A little ray of sunshine on a winter’s day….
Winter hit last week and stayed on into Saturday. It was great to get some true winter conditions, although the players may not have necessarily agreed. And despite our 3 senior teams all losing, the players all seemed to adapt well to the heavy grounds. Seniors were right in the game and pushing Collegians all the way. It was a shame the rainbow in the photos below wasn’t a symbolic representation of a Panther wins.
Injuries have again hit hard, losing both our captain: Cam Jones and VC Joel Rice at selection then having the following all out injured would have certainly helped the teams with added depth and our chances of a win:
Michael Thompson, Scott Virtue, James Courtot, Liam Cooney, David Blackie, Nick Morris, Karsten Rodenberg, James King, Alex Richardson, Sam Landgren, Cameron Wallace, Morgan Evans, Campbell Wallace, Rob O’Hern, Steve Freemantle and Zander Adam
The 2nds played some excellent football, leading early and arresting Collegians advantage before running out of gas. The 3rds suffered again from a lack of bench allowing Beaumaris 3rds to dominate. All praise though must go the Unders who played team orientated football to run all over old Trinity, congrats to coach Nick Andrewes and his team. The photo’s below show how winter has set in and how muddy and wet the ground was in parts.
Special mention must go to Jules Rowe who played with great skill and balance despite the conditions, by contrast new comer Tagan Carter Taylor revelled in the wet and played his best game for the Panthers, Tagan is part of the new breed of #GENERATIONNEXT and certainly showed what he is capable of.
The boys were upbeat despite the loss and trained well this week. Two highlights for the week came last night in the clubrooms. Firstly some fantastic Mums decided to turn up and serve the food, bringing delicious salads with them, well done ladies hope we see more of you.
Secondly we were very fortunate to be visited by demon star, Jack Viney, Jack is a past student and has mates at the club, and James Gaff sat him done and did a great Q&A session. Injured at the moment, Jack was able to hang about and really give the boys plenty of encouragement; they learnt a lot about Jack’s preparation and commitment.

This week’s Pink Panther
Congrats to unders Daniel Cameron and first year senior player Tagan Carter-Taylor, this week’s very worthy winners, recognising Panther courage, commitment and spirit. Special mention to Daniel, having broken his leg in the pre-season, Daniel has fought hard to get back and plays his first game in the Unders for season 2016 tomorrow. Tagan played his best game for the club in the seniors v Collegians last Saturday and really showed what he can offer…watch this space!
