Round 5 News

3 out of 5 win

Seniors miss out again

Despite another tough loss by the seniors the signs are looking good for the club in terms of our depth and healing from 2016.  The 2nds continue to register wins, 3 in a row now with a hard fought win over Parkdale.  The Unders have won 3 too, beating St Bedes at Brindisi Street, no mean feat.  The 3rds had a great win over Parkdale at Bulleen celebrating the Ian England Darren Elsner day in style.  Whilst the Women fell one point short in a great game against St Bedes down bay side.

The seniors were jumped early allowing Parkdale 4 very quick goals, from then on it was even but we couldn't bridge the gap and now face a massive home game this weekend v Peninsula, with both teams winless, needless to say this is a vital game.

Player injuries continue to haunt us, we lost Lochie Hall to a terrible broken leg/ankle on the weekend, so too Ben Coull our senior ruckman with a crack to his wrist.  Then Campbell Aitken rolled an ankle playing basketball on Sunday followed by a knee injury to Joel Rice at Tuesday's training...........cant take a trick!

Looking to this week, we are back at Bulleen and host Peninsula, UHS-W and Uni Blues.  4 home games plus lunch so it will be a busy afternoon.  The VAFA has honored our request allowing the Women to play at home when the Seniors are at home and that also aligns nicely with most of the U19 games.  This ensures we generate greater club unity and provide parents and supporters with a great afternoon's football with Cookie's lunch as the lead in.

So whatever you have planned for Saturday get it done early and get out to Carey Bulleen, I know the players will appreciate the support.

A much more comfortable Lochie Hall on Tuesday at the Epworth ahead of surgery Thursday.  Lochie is expecting to home on Saturday and start the long road to recovery.  You have to admire his bravery, by Monday he was back to his old self and talking up his beloved Panthers.........and his Tigers too!.

Milestone games this Saturday.

Panthers celebrate this week milestone games for 2 of our favorites.   Congrats to Nick Richardson on 100 games and Ben Smithwick on 150 games and life membership.  Well done boys, we are immensely proud of you both.
