Back to Bulleen

4 must win games

Short and to the point this week, wins or else!!

We return home to host AJAX after falling just short to Scotch last week at their school, seniors responded to some home truths at half time with a very impressive 2nd half.  The momentum was halted mid way through teh last Q when Jarrod Reid received a heavy knock.  The 2nds tried hard but scotch way too good especially with a line up that had regular senior players in it for scotch.  The 3rds played much better but fell short of Trinity, in the game right to the end.  The Unders played much better and welcomed an influx of school boys beating Fitzroy convincingly.  So to the might Women's team, pumping Yarra Valley by 10 goals.

I remain confident the coaches and players are working very hard to achieve wins and are committed.  Beyond AJAX lies Peninsula away then home again to Parkdale.  Wins are vital as these teams are all just above us on the ladder.

So come out to Bulleen today and cheer on our players, there will be lost of footy to watch

Panther Recognition

VAFA Rising Star Nomination

Our Panther Ladies are creating some interest and its great to see Meg Hermann awarded this week's VAFA's Rising Star nomination.  Meg is a powerful player with a booming kick, a coaches dream coming to the club and instantly slotted into CHF.  Amazing to think Meg is still at school and currently doing her VCE.  Meg was captain of boast this year and came to the club very fit.  We are immensely proud of Meg and all of her team mates.  Its been such a positive experience having the Women's team at the club, they are a fantastic group of girls and very well lead by their coach Greg Harding.  Currently sitting in 4th place, finals is on the radar.  This would be an outstanding achievement so please follow their fortunes and make the effort to see them play, home this weekend against St Bedes, we are a very good chance, especially as its school hols and Meg will be playing.

Well done Meg for all of you team mates at OC!!

The VAFA is officially 125 years old this weekend and have asked all clubs to celebrate by recognizing best players with commemorative medallions.

According to the VAFA's website:

Established in 1892 as the Metropolitan Football League, with 10 teams, the VAFA has stood proudly as the bastion of Amateur Football in Australia for 125 years. We are the largest senior men’s & women’s community football competition and have grown to 74 clubs, 280 teams and more than 11,000 players.

Black Armbands

Last weekend

We can be very proud of the club's showing of support to the Deev family at last weekend's games.  Sadly, Nikki Deev, a very popular member of our Women's team lost her mum, Irene during the week.  Nikki has quickly been embraced by all at the club and remains a key member of her team despite having her own set back with a knee injury in R2.  So it was only fitting we returned that support to Nikki and her family at this sad time. Our Women's coach, Greg Harding spoke to the playing group at selection on Thursday night about Nikki's courage and how important it is for clubs to stand up at such sad times and be there to support.  I know Nikki got great comfort from that.
