One third of the way and plenty of good signs

Round 6 was another good one for the club with 4 solid wins by the boys and a hard fort loss by our women.  The club is doing exceptionally well and this is reflected in the VAFA’s “Winning Edge Club Championship” where we sit 4th.  Points are awarded to each team’s wins within each club then aggregated.  Old Carey is the highest placed Premier division (A/B/C) club.

Our seniors continue to play great football despite some injuries and availability, our defence is the best performed backline in senior VAFA football, it has the least points kicked against it.  Similarly, we are doing very well up forward, Kristian Jaksch leads the goal kicking with 31 majors.  Thought the following would be interesting, an analysis of each senior Prem B team: number of players played and the number of players that have played all games in 2018.  The stand out is Uni Blacks, least number of players used (no injuries and a undefeated) and most players having played in all games.  Whilst we are also undefeated we have played more players with less playing all games, I conclude that it’s a good endorsement of our improved depth.

Ajax                                36 and 8
Beaumaris                       33 and 10
Caulfield                          27 and 14
Mazenod                         32 and 10
Monash                           35 and 11
Old Carey                        31 and 12
Old Haileybury                 30 and 11
Parkside Vultures             32 and 10
St Bernards                     27 and 14
Uni Blacks                       24 and 20

This week looms as another massive round for all teams.  Top 4 battles for both our seniors and 2nds, whilst the 3rds now on top take on a plucky Old Geelong.  Our women join the seniors at Beaumaris and play at 4.45 pm, immediately after the senior's  game.  The Unders venture to Uni to tackle a good Uni Blues.  Looking for more wins tomorrow before we return home the following week with all 5 teams back at Bulleen.

Nice shot below of Henry Schade our new CHB clearing the ball out of defence last weekend.  Henry has fitted in very well and is providing great support to Andrew Sloan and the rest of our back 6.

This week's games

All 5 teams are away with seniors, 2nds and women at Beaumaris which will be great day's viewing, 3rds and Unders on the road too.

Catch up on last week's games

Awesome work by this very select group, but by my reckoning there is still another 400 plus out there they remain silent!!!

You would have by now received an email invitation from our Treasurer, Campbell Aitken to take up a Past Player membership.  PLEASE take it up as it will assist greatly with our football program funding such initiatives as the GPS units and S&C you will see the results.

Here is the LINK top see what membership options are still available for 2018.

I hope that by the end of my 9th and final year as president I will have achieved one lasting goal, that is to have an improved core group of past players who are committed in supporting the club and play their part in continuing to develop our already rich history.
